Daniel 316 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. 18 But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”
<3 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego: men of true faith. Notice they said "if." Not that they weren't sure if they were gonna be rescued from king Nebuchadnezzar's schemes. In fact they knew God will bring down angels to save them. What this meant was that, they were willing to perish in standing for Jesus. Perhaps people were just afraid to be thrown into the blazing furnace thats why they acted as they were told, but to Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, death no longer mattered to them as long as they remain faithfully in serving their one and only God Jesus Christ. We too are faced with a lot of things on this earth that we think have control over us. Things that are hard to resist maybe because were left with no choice. Things that overpower us when we have the power over them, but are we gonna let those control our decisions? our choices? How deep is our faith and love to God? If we were caught in a similar situation today, would you be willing to give your life in standing for our one and true God? When we say we love Christ and live for Him alone, we must start to take "power" over the earthly things and remain in faithfully loving and serving Him. We must take a quiet moment sometime and ponder just on how much we really love and value God. The point is, HOW DEEP CAN U STAND TO DEFEND JESUS?
